Where Do You Find Refuge?

My devotional verse this morning was Nahum 1:7 - The Lord is good, a stronghold in a day of distress; He cares for those who take refuge in Him?

Resting in the Lord is knowing…knowing you can trust Him. Knowing He keeps His promises. That is taking refuge in Him and knowing you are safe in His care. I’ve had a season in my past where I had to dig in to find that refuge because my flesh was hurt, my heart desperate. And all I had to do was seek Him to find Him. That’s what the Bible promises in Jeremiah 29:13. What I found was that He had been working on my behalf all along.

This verse in Nahum reminded me of Psalm 91 that was referenced in church yesterday morning. What a beautiful and powerful passage in the Bible! A reminder of God’s refuge. Psalm 91:1-10 says that if I dwell in Him:

  • I will abide under the shadow of the almighty.

  • I will call Him my refuge, my God, and in Him I will trust.

  • He will deliver me.

  • I will be covered with His feathers, and under His wings I will take refuge.

  • His truth will be my shield.

  • He is my protector. Evil can happen all around me, but will not come near me! Praise God🙌

  • He gives His angels charge over me, to keep me.

I feel every word of this passage in Psalms! I am reassured and know I can rest in Him!! Do you know this safe place, this refuge is for you?!? He really is all we need. He is our stronghold and our refuge. If you know Him, then you know there is no one like Him. If you don’t know Him, I pray you begin to know Him as your savior, your safe place, your refuge. I’m praising God this morning for His provision, His rest, and His protection.

I am so thankful to be God’s girl. Aren’t you thankful you’re His too?!?
