Leaving It Behind

I read this verse from Matthew and think that’s a pretty large thing to leave behind - burying your father. That’s a big commitment 😳

The MSG version says it like this…Your business is life, not death. Follow me. Pursue Life. (SO Good 👏)

What is Jesus calling us to leave behind today? Collectively, we probably all need to lay down some tradition. Tradition can have us going through the motions but never really knowing Him, or having relationship with Him. It can leave us struggling to understand His regardless kind of love as we check off all the boxes of “what we HAVE to do”, while we leave Him at the threshold of the church building week after week, attempting to navigate our daily lives on our own and calling on Him ONLY when we need something…

If not tradition, then what else do we need to lay down? What do we hang onto that satisfies the flesh but leaves the heart thirsty, leaves us feeling empty? Whatever that is for you, Jesus wants to fill those empty spaces, to love you with an unconditional love, but it’s going to require us to leave some things behind, to spend time with Him, to get to know Him.

It wasn’t long ago that I would see myself in the mirror and had no idea who I was. I hated what I saw and what I felt. I was a Christian woman who had lost her identity in Christ somehow (or maybe I had never really understood it). I don’t intend to let that happen again!! Spending time with Him has changed my life, restored my identity, and I believe it’s changing my destiny!!

Here are some devotionals that I’ve read and some journals to help you get started spending some intentional time with Jesus.

I am SO thankful to be God’s girl ❤️ Do you know you are His too?
