Are You Looking for Affirmation?

Mark 10:37 - They answered, “Grant that one of us may sit at Your right hand and the other at Your left in Your glory.”
James and John are speaking in this verse. I think they were seeking some affirmation from Jesus here. The best seats in heaven would have represented a “job well done” to them. This would have declared to everyone that they were the “best of the best!”
How often do we seek approval when we have done something for the Lord? But in our case, we seek approval from people. Dear goodness…I do this 😔. I need someone to tell me I did a good job - that’s my human nature.
When will I learn that just doing my best when God asks something of me will have its own reward. Being willing to be a vessel, keeping my mind on Him, trusting He has placed the desires of my heart, and moving toward those things - that’s what He is asking of me. Just doing these things will fulfill me. These things will lead me to God’s promise that if I seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, all these things will be added unto me (Matthew 6:33). This is my reward for following Him and making Him a priority in my life, presenting myself as a vessel to be used.
May I learn that the biggest applause, the grandest accolades don’t come from people, but from the fruit my life bears, the blessings I see from God. May I always be humbled by the fact that God would use me and deem me worthy of having a spot on His team, of being chosen to live out the dreams He has placed in my heart. May that be the applause that leads me to do the next thing for Him…and the next thing…and the next thing…
Man, I am SO thankful to be God’s girl ❤️ I hope you know you’re His too.
